We provide state-of-the-art facilities in the management of endocrine diseases, colorectal and hepatobiliary diseases to patients from all over Punjab. Under the dynamic leadership of Consultant Surgeon Dr. Aqil Razzaq, the unit has been conducting breast cancer awareness campaign with full zeal and fervor for the masses every year in the month of October for last five years.

The unit conducts frequent hands-on training such as surgical skills workshops, seminars and symposiums for trainee doctors as well as weekly case presentations, journal club meetings, monthly internal surgical audit and fortnightly tumor boards to facilitate patient care and to keep our doctors abreast with the latest developments and practices in the field of surgery.

A complete set of local protocols / guidelines (SOPs) has been formulated to provide safe medical care to patients keeping in view the facilities and resources available in Govt. Kot Khawaja Saeed Teaching Hospital.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

The standard operating procedures (SOPs) of this department are listed below:

• The admission and / or discharge should only be made by Surgeon/ or Medical Officer on duty
• For new admissions, receive patient and check vitals before quarrying through old records, lab results, old discharge summary and old charts
• After assessment and patient’s physical exam, complete admission orders including drug prescription immediately
• Charge Nurses and Doctors are primarily responsible for writing daily notes on each of their patients
• Drug dosage, side effects and interactions should be checked daily and major points should be noted down in patients record by Hospital Pharmacist
• One attendant only allowed with one patient
• On death / expiry of patient, complete documentation should be maintained by the Charge Nurse and endorsed by the Medical Officer / Women Medical Officer on duty
