To cater the health and disease related needs of the population of the northern Lahore, Govt. Kot Khawaja Saeed Teaching Hospital was established in 1993. The hospital, from the time of its conception, boasted a well-equipped indoor lab to support the burden of diagnostics for the given population. Owing to the ever increasing population and the subsequent pressure on the health services delivery in this area, an independent large emergency unit was opened close to the main building in 2009. The Emergency was also equipped with a supportive Emergency Laboratory where the most important and urgent lab tests are conducted.

The upgradation and extension of the hospital in 2010 brought upgradation of the lab as well. This lead to procurement of further state-of-the-art equipment and machinery in our lab. At this point and time in 2022, the KKS laboratories, both emergency and indoor, is catering and providing lab diagnostics facility to a population of nearly 5 million people in northern Lahore. Our state-of-the-art lab is providing facility of all tests relating to Urine, Blood Examination, Biochemistry/ Routine Chemistry, all the important serological tests and tests of Special Chemistry including Thyroid profile and HbA1c.

Our lab holds the unique honor of always scoring exceptionally well in the inspection visits of PHC, on the grounds of fulfilling the pre-requisites laid down by PHC in flying colors. The CPSP also acknowledged the outstanding performance of our lab. The lab’s approval by CPSP as a background support lab proved to be one of the most vital deciding factors and paved the way for starting training in multiple disciplines in this hospital.
